First things first, forgiveness does not mean forgetting everything that happened or allowing the same people to continue to hurt you repeatedly.
The biggest thing to realise when it comes to forgiving someone is that forgiving them is something you do for yourself, not the person who hurt you.
It’s a gift of self love and spiritual and mental freedom from resentment and negative feelings you have towards someone.
With that in mind, here are some tips to help you FORGIVE and move on with your life positively:
Practice mindfulness and self-awareness to identify your resentment and anger towards someone, including the reasons why. Keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings.
Be willing to accept the situation that hurt you and seek areas to learn from the experience. I recommend using a “letter to nowhere”.
Seek support and guidance from your loved ones and those you trust - close family members and even your therapist. They may have wisdom to share that can help you.
Practice self-love and work on building your self-confidence.
Have compassion towards the person that you.
